I want to thank everyone who came to my Town Hall Meeting this past weekend. We had a great turnout and it was evident that Fairbanksans have been paying close attention to what’s going on in Juneau. It was also clear that there is frustration because of the lack of action. I share that frustration. I will continue to fight for everyday Alaskans to improve our public education system, ensure Alaskans get their fair share for our resources, and make sure that corporate money doesn’t overpower your voices.

Juneau Note from Rep. Kawasaki: Alaska’s Last Territorial Governor
Alaska lost a hero from the battle for statehood today. Territorial Governor Mike Stepovich of Fairbanks passed away last night surrounded by family. He served in the House, the Senate and was appointed by President Eisenhower to the post of Governor in 1957. He was a family man and an accomplished attorney. But the greatest legacy that can be shared, and today mourned, by every Alaskan was his steadfast advocacy in the efforts of Alaska to gain statehood. RIP Governor.

This time of year in Fairbanks is beautiful, if cold. I hope the warmth of the season reaches you as you spend time with family and loved ones. The interim has gone by quickly and I have been busy preparing for the upcoming Legislative session in January.
