Last month the Anchorage Bucs traveled to Fairbanks to take on the Goldpanners and I was honored to be asked to throw out the first pitch of the game. After an amazing pitch that flew right into the catcher’s glove, I was all but asked to be on the team. I was also delighted to accept an invitation to attend the opening ceremonies of the World Eskimo Indian Olympics, where I was able to be part of such a unique and important event that celebrates Alaskan Native diversity, heritage and culture

With many new exciting changes coming, and as we look forward to 2015, I want to wish everyone a safe, healthy and happy holiday season. Personally, 2014 has been an exciting year filled with big changes and lots of hard work. I am grateful to all the people in the communities I represent who have supported me and shared their hopes for a strong and healthy Southeast Alaska. It’s going to be a busy weekend! Although this Fairbanks summer has been up and down with record rains interspersed with beautifully sunny days, we have reached the weekend that everyone looks forward to: Golden Days. In 2014, we have a double-dose of excitement as the World Eskimo-Indian Olympics will take place this weekend as well. I look forward to meeting and visiting with neighbors as we celebrate the Golden Heart City!
