NEWS: House Democratic Caucus Celebrates New Administration of Bill Walker and Byron Mallott

Anchorage – Earlier today Bill Walker was sworn in as the Governor of Alaska during a ceremony in Juneau. During that same ceremony Byron Mallott was sworn in as Alaska’s Lieutenant Governor. The 13 members of the House Democratic Caucus send congratulations to the new Governor and Lt. Governor and pledge to work with the Administration to solve the pressing problems facing Alaska.

NEWS: Legislation to be Pre-filed to Give Alaska Kids the Tools to Prevent Child Abuse

Anchorage – In advance of the start of the 29th Alaska Legislature in January, Representative Geran Tarr (D-Anchorage) will pre-file legislation to enact “Erin’s Law” in Alaska. The bill is identical to H.B. 233, which was taken up during the 2nd session of the 28th Alaska Legislature. H.B. 233 had over 20 cosponsors and was supported by the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development. There is widespread support from parents, teachers, and child abuse survivors to pass the law.
