It’s Day 110 and many of us are still working in Juneau. Construction is underway at the Capitol so we moved in to a small rental near downtown. After 4 days of debate, the House voted on SB 91, the “Crimnibus” bill that overhauls the criminal justice system in a way Alaska has not seen since 1978. Rep. Tarr’s Newsletter: Child Abuse Prevention Efforts & Budget Update

I hope you wore blue yesterday. In the Capitol, and across the state, wearing blue meant that you support raising awareness and preventing child abuse in your community. We hosted a rally on the Capitol steps with Department of Health and Social Services Commissioner Val Davidson as our speaker. April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and we are taking steps to raise awareness and enact policies that will prevent child abuse. Last year our focus was Erin’s Law and Bree’s Law, that passed last June, and is now being implemented.

NEWS: Legislation Introduced to Protect Public Recreation Trails and Sites from Dangerous Trapping

Juneau – In an effort to reduce conflicts between trappers and recreational users of public lands in Alaska, Representative Andy Josephson (D-Anchorage) has introduced HB 306. The bill seeks to prohibit trapping within 200 feet of public trails and facilities.
