Rep. Doogan in Juneau: SPECIAL BROTHER CAN YOU SPARE $10 BILLION EDITION
February 3, 2012
I have started to try to get support for my bill to put $10 billion into the Alaska Permanent Fund. The bill is in the Powerful House Finance Committee, of which I am an insignificant member. I haven’t asked for a hearing yet; I want all the members of the House to have a chance to think about it first.
The bill has about the same chance to pass as a snowflake in Hades. There are many bills that offer us the chance to spend, spend, spend. Since spending is much more popular than saving – particularly in an election year – you can write your own script for poor House Bill 194. It won’t have a happy ending. But I’ll give you my pitch anyway.

Note from Rep. Les Gara: Guv Fear-Mongers On Your PFD: Why He’s Wrong. Very Wrong.
September 22, 2011
It seems that no matter what the issue, the Governor’s solution is to roll back oil taxes. Tuesday he did just that in announcing the Permanent Fund Dividend. Rep. Doogan in Juneau: SPECIAL THIS IS (MAYBE) THE END EDITION; Deep Pockets and Little Shame
May 13, 2011
There’s some chance that this will be the final e-news for awhile.
That sound you hear is me cheering.
I’m more than ready to go home. We have spent most of the past month engaged in spectacularly unproductive politicking. There are lots of reasons. You can argue about them if you have the time and energy. What do I think? Let’s just say that the people with the most political power have earned the most blame and leave it at that.

Rep. Tuck’s Community Connection: Historic Action - Legislature Called Into Special Session
April 18, 2011
As you may have already heard, the Legislature has been adjourned by the Governor and called into special session beginning today.
I am very disappointed that the Legislature was not able to follow the mandate from the voters to finish our business in 90 days. It is the Legislature’s duty to cooperate to advance Alaska’s interests, and I want to see results through cooperation. I am prepared, however, to stay in Juneau as long as it takes to get the job done and make sure the people’s business is finished.

Rep. Kawasaki’s Juneau Note: EOS? Maybe not so… Why Does it Take So Long? Permanent Fund Tops $40-Billion!
April 17, 2011
As you may have already heard, the end of session is scheduled for Sunday at midnight. Right now, at 8pm, it looks very unlikely that the Legislature will finish the work that we need to do to adjourn. The budget, Susitna Dam energy issues, college scholarships and coastal environmental policy remain in play tonight. With so much work left to be done, it wouldn’t be right to adjourn without finishing our work.
