Welcome Back to the Classroom School is back in full swing, with students from Pre-K to UA resuming their school year routines. This time of year always inspires and reminds me of the important role quality education plays in Alaska. And of course, please be aware of the increase in vehicle and foot traffic around schools and bus stops. Let’s keep our students safe this school year. Please remember to slow down and beware for flashing yellow lights to keep our kids safe this school year. School zones are marked at 20 miles an hour for safety.

Unfortunately, the intense winds we received across Anchorage last week were a bit too strong – as many of our neighbors are still reeling from the aftermath. Dear Friends and Neighbors, I am asking you to help me help our neighbors. I am organizing an emergency supply drive to get ice and supplies to people who are affected by the power outage. Much of East Anchorage is still without power, and unfortunately it looks like some neighborhoods might not be getting power restored until this weekend. I am also without power, and I have heard from many neighbors who are really hurting.
