Over the past couple of weeks I have been in and out of the state attending conferences in the Seattle area. These conferences allow like-minded policy makers (and also those from opposing positions) to gather to discuss issues, strategies, and network with each other. I tried to organize my conference schedules so that they would all take place around the same time. This way I could spend more of my time here in Alaska.

On Wednesday, August 5th, I will be speaking at a free teleconference seminar to help raise awareness about plastic microbeads and their impacts on the environment. As many of you will remember I sponsored House Bill 14, which would ban the use of microbeads in cosmetics in Alaska. There are several really cool events coming up with our neighborhood Russian Jack community picnic, the Governor’s picnic, and the Stop the Violence Party at Northway Mall. There’s even a free shuttle so you can attend the Governor’s Picnic and the Stop the Violence Party and you won’t have to worry about finding parking!
