NEWS: Guttenberg Pushes for Action on Natural Gas

FAIRBANKS- At a public meeting yesterday, Representative David Guttenberg (D-Interior/Wade Hampton) asked the Alaska Energy Authority (AEA) to investigate the immediate creation of a pilot program for Interior residents to convert to natural gas. Such a program, as envisioned by Rep. Guttenberg, would allow for small batches of residents to convert to natural gas at a discounted rate in anticipation of gas being trucked to Fairbanks.

School is back in full swing, with students from Pre-K to UA resuming their school year routines. This time of year always inspires and reminds me of the important role quality education plays in Alaska. And of course, please be aware of the increase in vehicle and foot traffic around schools and bus stops. Let’s keep our students safe this school year.
Please remember to slow down and beware for flashing yellow lights to keep our kids safe this school year. School zones are marked at 20 miles an hour for safety.

Hello! It’s been great to be back in Fairbanks since returning from session in Juneau. Simply put, there are a lot of bills moving and very few weeks left of session. Through extended committee meetings and late night floor sessions, bills are flying through committees, sometimes taking on an ever-so-different look than when they were originally introduced. Here are a few of the more prevalent bills gaining attention around the building and throughout communities statewide to keep you up-to-date.
