Dear friends and neighbors,
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to represent Juneau; it is truly an honor and a pleasure serving you and our beautiful community.
2011 was my thirteenth session with the Alaska State House of Representatives and fifth year as House Minority Leader and I look forward to continuing service in 2012. My seniority and leadership position in the Legislature have allowed me to strengthen and protect Juneau’s interests as I work to help improve our community and our state.

Legislature Creates Alaska Public Gardens Day

Bill would establish day to recognize unique role of public gardens in Alaska
JUNEAU – Today, the Alaska Legislature established Alaska Public Gardens Day on the Saturday immediately preceding Memorial Day each year. In doing so, the Legislature recognized the role gardens play in promoting environmental stewardship, the economy, education, plant conservation, recreation and research in Alaska.

Rep. Kerttula’s Juneau Newsletter: House Passes Oil & Gas Tax Break; Plus: House Passes Public Gardens Day

As we enter the last days of session, the pace is definitely picking up and floor sessions are getting longer. Last night at about 9:00 p.m., the House voted to pass the governor’s proposed oil and gas tax reduction over to the Senate. Also this week, legislation I sponsored to create a Public Gardens Day moved over to the Senate.
