NEWS: Rep. Kawasaki to Honor New Citizens at Fairbanks Ceremony

Representative Scott Kawasaki (D – Fairbanks) will join other dignitaries at the Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitors Center Wednesday, September 17, in a ceremony to welcome new citizens to the United States. The keynote speaker will be Yukon-Charley Rivers National Preserve superintendent Greg Dudgeon.

NEWS: Rep. Guttenberg Adds Staff To Fairbanks Office

FAIRBANKS - Representative David Guttenberg (D-Interior/Wade Hampton) formally welcomed two new staff members to his Fairbanks office today. Samantha Straus began working for Rep. Guttenberg in August after returning home from a twenty-six month Peace Corps tour in The Gambia, West Africa. Connor MacDonald also joined Rep. Guttenberg’s team in August after interning for U.S. Senator Mark Begich and working at the UAF Women’s Center as a student assistant to Dr. Kayt Sunwood.

NEWS: Rep. Tarr Applauds New Fairbanks Borough School Policy

Representative Geran Tarr (D-Anchorage) today welcomed the Fairbanks North Star Borough School Board’s unanimous adoption of “Erin’s Policy.” The measure directs the district to teach students techniques for recognizing and reporting sexual abuse, and train teachers and staff to recognize signs of abuse and how to respond to them. The Board approved the policy at their meeting Tuesday night.
