Over the past couple of weeks I have been in and out of the state attending conferences in the Seattle area. These conferences allow like-minded policy makers (and also those from opposing positions) to gather to discuss issues, strategies, and network with each other. I tried to organize my conference schedules so that they would all take place around the same time. This way I could spend more of my time here in Alaska.

Rep. Tuck’s Newsletter: Medicaid Expansion and Marijuana Control Board

Recently Governor Walker announced that, by executive order, he was bypassing the legislature to expand Medicaid. I support this move. A small group of legislators stood in the way and dragged the legislature though an expensive overtime session for something that would have passed if it was ever brought for a vote. I applaud the Governor in using every tool possible to bring millions of dollars in federal funding, and providing 40,000 more Alaskans with easily accessible and more efficient health care, thus creating more jobs and strengthening an economy much in need.
