The third special session of the 29th Alaska Legislature has come to a close. The legislature voted to “buyout” Trans-Canada’s interests in the AKLNG project. Alaska now has a full 25% interest in what will be one of the largest megaprojects in the world.

Here’s a quick update from the capitol as the legislature wraps up our third special session of the year.

November 6, 2015

At the beginning of the recent 12-day Special Session I wrote to explain why the bill we were asked to decide was too simple to keep us down in Juneau die long. It took some legislators longer than I had hoped, but the gas line bill ultimately passed 55-3.

November 5, 2015

The third special session has concluded and the Legislature has voted to buy out TransCanada from the AK LNG project. The time spent in Juneau was informative both about gasline issues and about the long-term fiscal plan for the State. I hope everyone has a great weekend and stays safe on the icy roads!
