NEWS: Democratic Lawmakers Introduce Equal Pay and Living Wage Act

JUNEAU – Today, Representative Geran Tarr (D-Anchorage) and Representative Harriet Drummond (D-Anchorage) joined thousands of Americans taking action on unfair pay practices by introducing the Equal Pay and Living Wage Act. The bill, which is introduced on Equal Pay Day, increases the minimum wage to a $15 living wage starting January 1, 2017.

NEWS: Ten Days Left in Session - Still No Erin’s Law

JUNEAU – There are now 10 days left in the first session of the 29th Alaska Legislature but there is still no movement on legislation to implement Erin’s Law in Alaska. Erin’s Law has been proven in many other states to prevent child sexual abuse by requiring public school districts to offer prevention curriculum.

NEWS: Legislation to Honor Veterans with Combat Award License Plates Passes the Alaska House

Juneau – Today, the Alaska House of Representatives unanimously passed House Bill 61 to honor those veterans who have demonstrated valor in combat while in the line of duty. Current law leaves out license plate designations for most of the important “valor in combat” medals.
