Today, democratic legislators Representative Geran Tarr, Representative Beth Kerttula, Representative Harriet Drummond and Senator Berta Gardner spoke out against the governor’s bureaucratic intrusion into Alaska women’s personal health decisions. The Parnell administration recently finalized regulations allowing government bureaucrats to determine which circumstances determine whether a woman’s abortion procedure is medically necessary, a determination previously left to health professionals.

Democratic legislators stand up against bureaucratic intrusion into women’s health decisions ANCHORAGE – Today, House democratic legislators Beth Kerttula, Harriet Drummond and Geran Tarr spoke out against the governor’s bureaucratic intrusion into Alaska women’s personal health decisions. Rep. Geran Tarr The Gardens are Opening! Winter is waning, spring is creeping in, and the Gardens at Bragaw are opening! The Anchorage Community Land Trust announced the opening of a new community garden this year. The garden is on Bragaw between 4th Ave and the Glenn Highway. Registration for Garden plots will take place on March 30th and April 6th at the Mountain View Library from 11 AM to 1 PM. I can’t wait to see you all in the garden this summer! Rep. Kerttula’s Juneau Newsletter: Women’s History Month

March is Women’s History Month, and on March 16, there was a fantastic lunch in honor of women legislators throughout Alaska’s history. Not only were current women legislators present, but also past women legislators and their families, along with the family members of women legislators who have passed on. It was a memorable and inspiring event. I remembered that when a bill was heard last week that would have severely limited a woman’s right to choice. I felt much more empowered thinking of the strong women who came before me as well as those with whom I serve. Thank you for reading my newsletter.
