This legislative session, I have continued to carry the torch for our women and children in Alaska as a way to illuminate the silent epidemics that tragically thrive in our state: child abuse and rape being the most pressing of issues.

April 9, 2015

JUNEAU – There are now 10 days left in the first session of the 29th Alaska Legislature but there is still no movement on legislation to implement Erin’s Law in Alaska. Erin’s Law has been proven in many other states to prevent child sexual abuse by requiring public school districts to offer prevention curriculum.

JUNEAU – There are 20 days left in the first session of the 29th Alaska Legislature but there is still no movement on legislation that could help end the epidemic of childhood sexual abuse in Alaska.

April 3, 2014

JUNEAU – Today, the Alaska state House of Representatives passed legislation declaring April 2014 “Child Abuse Prevention Month” in Alaska. The resolution (HCR21), by Representative Geran Tarr (D-Anchorage), passed the House unanimously.

JUNEAU – “Erin’s Law” continued to gain momentum today in the Alaska Legislature as it moved from the House Education Committee with unanimous support.
