Today, the Alaska State House approved a resolution (HJR5) by Representative Geran Tarr (D-Anchorage) opposing the federal Food and Drug Administration’s approval of Genetically Modified Salmon in the United States. This action brings the 28th Alaska State Legislature one step closer to joining the Alaska Congressional Delegation and the governor in standing with Alaska’s fishermen against “Frankenfish.”

Getting our fair share: Production before Reduction
A key issue this session is getting our fair share for our resources. This week, the Senate and House Democrats introduced a proposal to ensure new production before reduction. I am proud to be a sponsor of HB 111. This bill will strengthen our economy, ensure a fair return on our oil, and get more oil to the market. Effort to Protect Wild Alaska Salmon Moves Forward
JUNEAU - Today, the House Fisheries Committee approved House Joint Resolution 5, a resolution sponsored by Representatives Geran Tarr (D-Anchorage) and Scott Kawasaki opposing the Food and Drug Administration’s approval of the sale of genetically modified (GM) salmon in the United States. This would be the first time the FDA approves a GM organism for human consumption.
