The best part about the interim is being home to reconnect with my constituents, and to listen to what matters to them. The House Finance Committee will hear public testimony today on Senate Bill 128, the Alaska Permanent Fund Protection Act, at 5:00 PM. This bill would make major changes to the Permanent Fund, including limiting your PFD checks to $1000 for the next two years.

Yesterday, the Alaska Legislature passed fully funded budgets for the next fiscal year that remove the threat of the first ever government shutdown in Alaska. The operating and capital budgets were passed with significant support from members of the Alaska Independent Democratic Coalition after weeks of bipartisan negotiations between the Minority and Majority Caucuses in both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
