Last week I attended Brian Rogers’ retirement party at the Wood Center, where a group of his longtime friends, family and coworkers paid tribute to the contributions he has made over the years as Chancellor at UAF. I’ve known Brian since he sold lemonade out of a step ban on campus years ago. He is a dear friend of mine. Although we were there to say goodbye to one of Fairbanks’ great leaders, it remained a celebration as several people spoke in his honor.

NEWS: Rep. Tarr Supports the Work of the GLACIER Conference to Focus Attention and Resources on the Arctic and Climate Change
ANCHORAGE – The Conference on Global Leadership in the Arctic: Cooperation, Innovation, Engagement and Resilience, otherwise known as the GLACIER Conference, is being held today in Anchorage at the Dena’ina Center. The conference brings together world leaders, Arctic scientists, climate change experts and Alaskans to discuss and learn about Arctic issues and how to plan for expected environmental changes in the Arctic. Rep. Geran Tarr (D-Anchorage) has become a vocal advocate for understanding the impacts of climate change in Alaska and is hopeful the ongoing GLACIER Conference will be successful.
