On Monday, the House Resources Committee passed out legislation to revise Alaska’s oil & gas taxes after only a handful of hearings. As I wrote in my February 11 newsletter, I oppose these changes. Last week several of us visited the Kensington Gold Mine located near Juneau. We set out early in the morning driving toward the end of the road; then taking a boat through the clear water of the Lynn Canal to the mining site.
Read More →The House Resources Committee passed Governor Parnell’s bill to give away around $2 billion of Alaska’s oil wealth each year back to big oil. I was disappointed by the Committee’s action to move the bill despite many unanswered questions. We have not heard any real evidence; the only thing the committee has heard was “anecdotal evidence”, “industry input” and “personal opinions” from administration.
