The annual gathering of international scientists and policymakers from around the globe met with a common goal to advance Arctic research. Through separate but related meetings and events, the Summit provided opportunities for international coordination, collaboration and cooperation in all fields of Arctic science. NEWS: House Approves Bill Originally Crafted by the Late Rep. Max Gruenberg
Juneau – Today, the Alaska House of Representatives passed House Bill 273 to simplify, speed up, and lower the cost of vehicle transfers on death. HB 273 will allow a vehicle owner to file an application with the Alaska Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to designate a beneficiary to take title of a vehicle upon the death of the owner.

NEWS: House Resources Committee Misses Opportunity to Help Close $4 Billion Budget Gap
Juneau – Much of the savings associated with Governor Bill Walker’s proposed reform to Alaska’s flawed and overly expensive oil and gas tax credit system has been lost because of the actions of the House Resources Committee. House Bill 247 was passed out of the committee tonight. The original bill was significantly altered by members of the House Majority to remove $450 million in savings and new revenue.
