Hello from Juneau! The 2012 Legislative Session is only a few days in, but the busy schedule has already kicked into high gear. You can expect regular newsletter updates from me throughout the session, updating you on meetings I have, bills I’m sponsoring, and other legislative activity.

I will continue to sit on four committees: Health and Social Services, Labor and Commerce, Fisheries, and Military and Veterans Affairs. I am anxious to continue the work begun last year, and to keep focus on those issues most important to those of us lucky enough to live in Fairbanks!

The Alaska Legislature reconvened in Juneau today for the second half of the 27th Legislature. We look forward to a productive session.

I am lucky to have both James R. Waldo and Mike Coumbe returning to my office this year. We will be here for the next 90 days, and look forward to hearing your thoughts on the issues facing the state.

Rep. Petersen Introduces Permanent Absentee Voting Legislation

Bill would make it easier for seniors, rural Alaskans and people with disabilities to vote

JUNEAU - In order to make voting easier for Alaskans who have difficulty getting to their polling place, Representative Pete Petersen (D-Anchorage) introduced legislation today to allow Alaskans the option to register as permanent absentee voters.
