Rep. Adam Wool

Fairbanks Area Residents Invited to Provide Input on Budget and Legislative Priorities

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
December 30, 2016

Fairbanks – In an effort to prepare for the upcoming legislative session, House District 5 State Representative Adam Wool (D-Fairbanks) will host a community budget conversation on January 4th in Fairbanks at the Blue Loon. The event, which is open to the public, will be held at 6 p.m. and feature a presentation from Tax Division Director Ken Alper on Governor Walker’s budget proposal and related legislation.

“I joined the new House Majority Coalition because we cannot wait any longer to address the ongoing fiscal crisis, which is costing people their jobs and threatening the economy. We are committed to doing something this year, but we need the peoples help to define what options should and should not be on the table,” said Rep. Wool. “The more I learn about and understand the priorities of individual Alaskans the easier it will be to make the tough decisions I was elected to make. I also believe it’s vital for the people of District 5 to understand the factors that have resulted in this fiscal crisis, and what goes into the difficult decisions that must be made to address the crisis.”

Rep. Wool’s community budget conversation will include a discussion of spending priorities, new revenue options, and how some of the earnings of the Alaska Permanent Fund can be sustainably used to fund essential state services.

The event is free and open to the public, but those under 21 must be accompanied by a parent.
