Rep. Tuck’s Community Connection: Back to School! Watch Out for 20 Mile an Hour School Zones and Increased Pedestrian Activity

As many of you may know, the Anchorage School District will be starting school tomorrow on Tuesday, August 16th.
Besides a change of pace for families with children, the character of our neighborhoods will change too. Anyone who lives near a school knows how busy early morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up times can get.
Please watch out for flashing yellow lights around school zones and remember to be conscientious and use safe driving practices to keep our future generations safe, healthy and productive in the new school year!

Rep. Tuck’s Community Connection: Last Week of Session Brings Successes, Unfinished Business

Dear Neighbors,
With less than one week remaining in the Legislative Session, things are heated up in the Capital.
Now that the logjam created by three weeks of oil tax debate has broken, committees are ramping up in reviewing legislation, budgets are under heavy discussion, and the House is voting on four to twelve bills every day. I’m in the office at least from 7am until 10pm every day of the week, and am working hard for our best interests.

Today marks the 25th day of the first session of the 27th Alaska Legislature. We have 65 days remaining to finish this year’s work. The highlights of my days are meeting with constituents who come to talk about issues close to their hearts and homes.
