Rep. Tuck’s Community Connection: Road Construction Alert 92nd to Academy Dr / Seward Underpass
A neighbor recently called my office with concerns about a portion of the 92nd Avenue Grade Separation project, which will lift the New Seward Highway above 92nd Avenue. Associated road work would add on/off ramps onto 92nd, rebuild frontage roads and change traffic flow in nearby neighborhoods. Pedestrian routes and some homes in Southwood Manor would also be affected.

Rep. Tuck’s Community Connection: Historic Action – Legislature Called Into Special Session
As you may have already heard, the Legislature has been adjourned by the Governor and called into special session beginning today.
I am very disappointed that the Legislature was not able to follow the mandate from the voters to finish our business in 90 days. It is the Legislature’s duty to cooperate to advance Alaska’s interests, and I want to see results through cooperation. I am prepared, however, to stay in Juneau as long as it takes to get the job done and make sure the people’s business is finished.

With less than one week remaining in the Legislative Session, things are heated up in the Capital.
Now that the logjam created by three weeks of oil tax debate has broken, committees are ramping up in reviewing legislation, budgets are under heavy discussion, and the House is voting on four to twelve bills every day. I’m in the office at least from 7am until 10pm every day of the week, and am working hard for our best interests.

Rep. Tuck’s Community Connection: Public Testimony Opportunities: Oil Tax Proposal; Constituent Meeting
The House Finance Committee will be holding its first public hearings on the Governor’s oil tax bill (HB 110) this Thursday and Friday. This proposed bill would give more than $10 billion over the next 5 years to the oil industry in a bid to get more oil in the pipeline.
I am very supportive of more oil production and more jobs for Alaskans. However, information discovered during review of HB 110 has raised serious questions about the best way to spur more oil production and jobs. Below is a longer discussion of the oil tax issue.
