ANCHORAGE – The Conference on Global Leadership in the Arctic: Cooperation, Innovation, Engagement and Resilience, otherwise known as the GLACIER Conference, is being held today in Anchorage at the Dena’ina Center. Rep. Tarr’s Newsletter: Big news! Judge Pfiffner says Medicaid expansion can go ahead September 1
Last week my Republican colleagues voted to sue Governor Walker for his decision to move forward with Medicaid expansion. I did not support moving forward with a lawsuit because a majority of Alaskans support Medicaid expansion, because Medicaid expansion will save the state hundreds of millions of dollars, because Republican leadership refused to hear expansion and reform bills during the special sessions, and because at a time when we are cutting essential state services we don’t need to waste money on a costly lawsuit suing ourselves.

Rep. Tarr’s Newsletter: Erin’s Law Signed into Law!
Last week something wonderful happened. After a long (2 years!), arduous journey that at times seemed doomed to fail, Governor Walker signed Erin’s Law on July 9th. It was absolutely one of the high points of my time serving as your Legislator, and I want to thank everyone again for standing with me in fighting to get this important law passed. The bill signing was held at the 125th anniversary of Alaska Youth and Family (formerly Alaska Children’s Services) and I can’t think of a more appropriate place. Alaska Youth and Family is a non-profit organization that provides services and runs a home for children who have experienced abuse. They do amazing work and if you don’t know about them I hope you’ll visit their website to learn more.
