This time of year in Fairbanks is beautiful, if cold. I hope the warmth of the season reaches you as you spend time with family and loved ones. The interim has gone by quickly and I have been busy preparing for the upcoming Legislative session in January. I’ve had the opportunity to meet with many of you who are doing great work for our community and I can’t wait to support these efforts down in Juneau.

Thanksgiving Day is tomorrow and I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. I often write about the warmth and generosity of our community and believe that we live up to our title of “The Golden Heart City”. There are dozens of worthy charitable organizations, churches and groups that help those in need. They need our support year round and especially during the holiday season.

Read More →Friday October the 18th is Alaska Day! It commemorates the day Alaska was transferred from Russia to the United States. On October 18th, 1867, the Russian flag was lowered for the last time and an American flag was raised for the first of many times. We are blessed to live in this great state (and pick up such a bargain!) Celebrate by doing something Alaskan with friends and family. Go for a hike at Creamer’s Field and notice the leaves changing color, take the kids to Pioneer Park, or learn more about Alaskan history at the UAF Museum!
