What a Turnout!
To all who were at the Anchorage Caucus on Saturday morning, thank you! Along with the other Anchorage legislators in attendance, I heard from 130 local Anchorage citizens. You were out in force on topics such as increasing school funding, capital projects requests, the local labor dispute, and school vouchers. I believe that whatever your issue, state or municipal, it is my duty as your elected official to listen to you and act on your behalf. It was inspiring to hear from so many local residents.

NEWS: Rep. Josephson Proposes Bills to Share More Oil Wealth with Local Communities
Bill would lower property taxes and bring the benefits of our oil wealth home to communities
JUNEAU – Today, Representative Andy Josephson (D-Anchorage) introduced legislation to increase the amount of Alaska’s oil revenues the state shares with local communities to reduce property taxes and fund necessary community services.

Getting more oil in the pipeline is a priority for me…but making sure the benefits of our oil wealth reach you is of equal priority. This means ensuring that money from oil taxes makes it back to our local communities.
Companies Produce, We’ll Reduce-
Naturally, Alaska’s future depends on getting more oil in the pipeline. This week the House and Senate Democrats delivered an alternative (HB 111) to the Governor’s Oil Tax Bill (HB 72). Unlike the Governor’s bill, the Democratic alternative aims to: (1) encourage oil production in new fields, (2) help get new oil out of existing fields, and (3) advance non-tax ways to encourage more oil production.

Reduction for Production: Bill Targets New Oil in the Pipe and Protects Alaska
JUNEAU – House and Senate Democratic legislators introduced legislation today to grant tax concessions to oil producers who put new oil into the pipeline. The bill (SB50, HB 111) targets tax incentives to new fields and to new development in existing fields, and it offers other incentives outside the tax code to spark new development.
