FAIRBANKS- Representative David Guttenberg (D-Fairbanks) announced this week that he has hired a new finance aide. Kyle Campbell grew up in the Goldstream Valley and has been involved in local Fairbanks community organizations for most of his life. With a background heavily focused on science and community outreach, Campbell is looking forward to expanding his horizons while working for the Alaska State Legislature.

ANCHORAGE – The thirteen members of the Alaska Independent Democratic Coalition are excited to welcome President Barak Obama to Alaska this week. The President is scheduled to speak tonight at the GLACIER conference at the Dena’ina Center in Anchorage followed by trips to rural Alaska later this week. The GLACIER conference, which is focused on the Arctic, will include foreign dignitaries and experts on Arctic issues.

NEWS: Rep. Guttenberg Hires a New Staff Member
FAIRBANKS - Representative David Guttenberg (D-Fairbanks) is pleased to announce and welcome, Kaitlin Wilson, as a new addition to his staff. Wilson, a second generation Alaskan, was born and raised in Fairbanks. At a young age she was attracted to photography, and after traveling extensively throughout Latin America with her camera, she decided to pursue her passion and study the art at a formal institution. In 2009 she enrolled in the media arts program at Columbia College in Chicago. After one year of living in the city, she found herself being drawn back to the natural beauty of Alaska, where she returned home to earn a bachelor’s of art in journalism, with an emphasis in photojournalism from the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 2013.

NEWS: Alaska Independent Democratic Coalition Negotiates Compromise Budget Deal to Avert Government Shutdown
ANCHORAGE – The Alaska Independent Democratic Coalition compromise with the Majority leadership in the House and Senate today enabled the Alaska Legislature to pass an operating budget for Fiscal Year 2016 that prevents a government shutdown at the end of the month.
