NEWS: Rep. Guttenberg Adds Staff To Fairbanks Office
FAIRBANKS - Representative David Guttenberg (D-Interior/Wade Hampton) formally welcomed two new staff members to his Fairbanks office today. Samantha Straus began working for Rep. Guttenberg in August after returning home from a twenty-six month Peace Corps tour in The Gambia, West Africa. Connor MacDonald also joined Rep. Guttenberg’s team in August after interning for U.S. Senator Mark Begich and working at the UAF Women’s Center as a student assistant to Dr. Kayt Sunwood.

NEWS: Guttenberg Hails Veteran Cemetery Process
Representative David Guttenberg (D-Interior/Wade Hampton) today praised news that officials of the Alaska Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) signed a land sales agreement to dedicate 320 acres near Fairbanks as Alaska’s Interior Veterans Cemetery. A long-time advocate for an Interior cemetery, Rep. Guttenberg sponsored the 2005 bill designating the new facility and directing DMVA to construct it. That measure ultimately led to passage of a similar bill in 2009, sponsored by Senator Charlie Huggins (R-Wasilla), establishing the cemetery and creating the Alaska Veterans Cemetery Fund.

NEWS: Guttenberg Pushes for Action on Natural Gas
FAIRBANKS- At a public meeting yesterday, Representative David Guttenberg (D-Interior/Wade Hampton) asked the Alaska Energy Authority (AEA) to investigate the immediate creation of a pilot program for Interior residents to convert to natural gas. Such a program, as envisioned by Rep. Guttenberg, would allow for small batches of residents to convert to natural gas at a discounted rate in anticipation of gas being trucked to Fairbanks.
