First Edition! The Work Begins Dear Friends and Neighbors, Greetings from the State Capitol in Juneau! It’s a lot wetter and warmer here than back home. The wet weather doesn’t dampen our spirits though. On Tuesday, I took the oath of office and began my term as your representative for Geist, College, Chena Ridge, Chena Pump, University West, Cripple Creek, UAF Campus, Richardson, and the Parks Highway neighborhoods in Fairbanks. The politicos call it District 5- I just call it home or D-5.
I am joined in my office by two hard working staff members. David Dunsmore is my chief of staff, this is his sixth year working in the Legislature. Fairbanksan Samantha Straus is joining us as a legislative aide. Samantha previously worked with Rep. Guttenberg and is just returning from 26 months of service as a Peace Corps volunteer in The Gambia.
I am honored to be able to serve you on several important committees. I will be serving on the House Energy, Health and Social Services, and Economic Development, Tourism and Arctic Policy committees. I will also be on the subcommittees in charge of the budgets for the University of Alaska and the departments of Labor and Revenue. I am confident that these committees will give me the opportunity to fight for you to lower energy costs, bring jobs to Fairbanks, and help make our university even better.
I work for you- your business is my business. Please email or call me with your thoughts, ideas, and concerns. It is a great honor to serve you, and I greatly appreciate you giving me this opportunity. Sincerely, |
