A Time to Give Thanks Holiday Help Needed by Local Charity
Dear Neighbors,
In my life, I tend to be most thankful when a burden has been lifted or I have received something that I didn’t deserve. Unfortunately, I tend to take for granted the little blessings in my life. But shouldn’t we always be thankful? Not only when our burdens are relieved but also when we are experiencing good times and during bad times?
Habakkuk 3: 17-18 – New International Version
Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the lord,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.
This verse demonstrates that we should give thanks during bad times as well as during good times.
Thanksgiving is a reminder to have a thankful heart and to have a heart to give. As we give thanks we should remember that our local nonprofits need help to make sure that those who are less fortunate are able to have a happy Thanksgiving.
Bean’s Café is no longer signing up volunteers for Thanksgiving Day, but there are lots of other ways you can help: They are in need of donations of paper products, coffee, dinner rolls, butter, pies, and fresh produce (no home-made goods please). You can also contribute to Beanie Boxes, which provide festive gifts to the homeless and those in need. Bean’s Café can always use financial donations as well.
Happy Thanksgiving, and thank you for taking the time to read this update! As always, send me an email or call my office any time at 269-0240 if I can provide you with any assistance.
As always, I’m here for you, so please keep in touch on matters important to you and your family!
Warm regards,
