Upcoming Joint In-State Gas Caucus Meeting and Other Important News
Dear Neighbors,
I hope you have been having a great summer this year and have been making the most of the recent sunny weather. I have put together the following list of upcoming events and other information that might be of interest to you. Joint In-State Gas Caucus Meeting
On Monday, July 30, at 1:00 PM the Joint In-State Gas Caucus will be having an update on Alaska natural gas pipeline projects. There will be presentations from the Administration, the Alaska Stand Alone Pipeline Project, the Exxon Senior Point Thompson Manager, and the Federal Coordinator for Alaska Natural Gas Transportation Projects. Please feel free to attend this public meeting in person at the Anchorage Legislative Information Office at 716 W.4th Avenue, room 220, or you can watch the meeting on your computer at http://alaskalegislature.tv/.

August 28 Primary Election
Please remember to vote in the upcoming August 28 primary election. There will be a ballot measure on whether to allow municipalities to increase the personal property tax exemption from $20,000 to $50,000 and a measure on whether to reestablish the Alaska Coastal Management Program. These are important issues, so please be sure to make your voice heard. You can learn more about the measures at the Division of Elections website at:

Voting by Mail
Did you know you that any qualified voter registered in the state of Alaska can apply for a ballot through the mail, also known as absentee voting, as long as your application is received by the Division of Elections no later than 10 days before election day? If you will be out of town, can’t make it to the polls, or if you would just like to be certain you will get a ballot, please learn how to vote by mail at the following website:

One-stop Enrollment for New Students this Saturday
The Anchorage School District is offering one-stop enrollment this Saturday for students who are new to the district. If you or someone you know has a school aged child and are new to the area, please go to the following link to get the details:

Other Important Dates:
First day of school – Grades 2-12: August 22, Grades K-1: August 29.
Watch out for school zones and children walking to school!
