Medicaid Update and Weekend Rallies
Dear Neighbors,
Thank you for staying in touch with me to show your support for Governor Walker’s plan to expand Medicaid in Alaska.
As you are likely aware, a powerful Co-Chair of the House Finance Committee recently announced that Republicans on the committee will be blocking the expansion until at least next year, and swiftly cancelled the hearing with no debate.
During this special session the Republican-led finance committee has held four hearings on the expansion bill, but never once allowed for public testimony.
It was a packed house at Thursday’s hearings put on by the House Independent Democratic Coalition and Senate Democrats.
That is why as leader of the House Independent Democratic Coalition I joined with Senate Democratic Minority members last night to hold our own hearings so the public would have a voice on this and other issues of the session.
I would like to thank the over 160 people who showed up and testified on short notice. You have shown that the public will not be silenced on this issue.
Time is running out – your help is needed this weekend
We need to keep up the pressure.
Please join me on both Saturday and Sunday this weekend to rally in support of Medicaid Expansion in Alaska. Here are the details:
What: Rallies in Support of Medicaid Expansion
Where: At the corner of Northern Lights and New Seward (Sears Mall Parking Lot)
When: This Saturday and Sunday from 2:00-4:00 pm.
We all know that Medicaid expansion is a good deal for Alaska. We already paid for it with our tax dollars, it will insure thousands and create thousands of jobs, and it will cost the state nothing. Don’t let the powerful few deny the will of the many.
