Road Construction Alert
92nd to Academy Dr / Seward Underpass
(Brayton Drive, Academy Drive)
A neighbor recently called my office with concerns about a portion of the 92nd Avenue Grade Separation project, which will lift the New Seward Highway above 92nd Avenue. Associated road work would add on/off ramps onto 92nd, rebuild frontage roads and change traffic flow in nearby neighborhoods. Pedestrian routes and some homes in Southwood Manor would also be affected.
A local meeting scheduled for today will help residents learn more about the proposals and shape the project.
· Today, Monday, April 25th
· Dimond Center Hotel (between the Dimond Center and WalMart)
Protecting safety, quality of life and property values is very important to me.
Due to the special session, I will not be able to attend the meeting. If you would like to discuss any proposals on this project, please contact me.
The 92nd Avenue project is scheduled for one phase, but limited funding means the project will likely be split into two phases. Work on the west side of the New Seward Highway is under design, and construction could begin in early 2014. The east side phase is being designed with the west side, but has no funding source or project timeline right now.

TIP FOR CITIZEN PARTICIPATION
Community councils are critical to improving neighborhood quality of life. They offer an opportunity to raise the profile of local issues and priorities. Each community council is supposed to help the Municipality and elected officials prioritize investments in neighborhood safety, road conditions, area planning, and more.
An active council gives you a strong voice, however several of our local councils have not provided area road and safety priorities for several years.
Please get involved – your opinion is important!
You can find your local Community Council at www.communitycouncils.org or by calling my office at 269-0240. |
