Protecting Our Oil and Gas Future
Dear Neighbors,
There are only four days left in the final session of the 24th Alaska legislature and there has been talk of an extended or special session to deal with unfinished business. Numerous bills are now in danger of failing due to lack of movement during the regular session. However, if we do go into extended or special session the main focus is sure to be primarily on oil taxes.
To make sure you have the facts about the oil tax issue, I have dedicated my recent newsletter to compiling the best information available. You will be receiving a hard copy in the mail within the next day or so, and I have included a link to an electronic version if you would like an advance look.

Alaska has Lost a Great Public Servant – Representative Carl Gatto
Yesterday we were saddened to lose one of our colleagues and a good friend after a long battle with cancer. A resident of Alaska since 1968, Representative Carl Gatto had served in the legislature since 1992 and worked until nearly his last day. He lived a well-rounded life, having previously worked as a teacher, firefighter and engineer, and pursued interests including triathlons, hunting, fishing, flying and participating in charity races.

Although I did not always agree with Carl on all the issues, I had the highest respect for him as a colleague and as a public servant. He was an honest and thoughtful man who only wanted what was best for the people of Alaska. We were truly blessed to have him working for us in the legislature. He will be missed.
Warm regards,
