It’s Time to Make Your VOTE Count!

Dear Neighbors,

It is time to make your voice heard at the voting booth. Early voting for the Anchorage Municipal Elections has started!

Every election serves an essential function. By casting your ballot, you’re helping to shape the place you live. Democracy is meant to function through the will of the people. Voters will also be asked to make decision on items of importance, including allocating funding for schools, roads, parks and public safety improvements.

This year our community has two high priority projects that Anchorage voters will asked to vote on – Sylvan Drive Reconstruction and Taku Lake Park Improvements.

Taku Lake Park Improvements – Prop. 4

The Park Bond includes several different improvement projects from multi-use bridge upgrades to resurfacing the Campbell Creek Trail and particularly exciting…redevelopment and safety upgrades at Taku Lake Park! Prop. 4 will fund safety improvements such as improving sightlines into the park and installing lighting to reduce vandalism, plus a new playground to replace the one that burned down. The bond also includes funding to repair and resurface the Campbell Creek Trail.

Sylvan Drive Improvements – Prop. 5

Reconstruction of Sylvan Drive has been ranked the top priority for the Taku/Campbell Community Council. This project will reconstruct Sylvan Drive to include a new road base, curbs, pavement, storm drains, street lights and pedestrian facilities. This local road has been deteriorating for years, including flood damage, surface glaciation and frost heaving. Voters will be asked to approve an Anchorage Road Bond including this project on this April 5.
