SEPTEMBER 25, 2015  Share on Facebook

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

We've got two very important events happening this weekend in our neighborhoods.  I’d love for you to join me at one or both of them!

Davis Park Cleanup

I don’t want to bum anyone out, but we know it’s going to snow before too long. We want to get out and clean up Davis Park before any trash gets buried! Our Mountain View neighbor Dan Maher has been a dedicated volunteer in keeping this great park clean.  He first brought the problem to my attention last summer and after two clean-ups last year the park was free of abandoned camps and trash.  Now, more and more neighbors can be seen out walking dogs or just enjoying the park.  Thanks to Dan!

Come and join us for the cleanup from 10 am – 1pm. Lunch will be served, and gloves and trash bags provided. Hope to see you there!

Community Patrol

There has been an incredible amount of interest in getting this going so we are moving forward.  There will be a Community Builders (Community Patrol) meeting this Sunday night, 7pm at the Unitarian Church, 2824 E 18th Ave.

Agenda:

Draft rules of operation that will include organizational structure, leadership, how to report incidences / suspicious activity (avoid bias descriptions, show respect for all communities of people).

Share sign ideas to identify vehicles (thanks to our awesome neighbor Kelly Dufort for making samples).

Another awesome neighbor, Dave Wolfe, has volunteered to collate our survey results- please keep sending these in!

My office has been helping to get the survey out and get the meetings organized, but it will take neighborhood leaders to keep this going.  After we get the formal part of this done we'll need to hand it off so I hope to see you there!  We know we need a strong core group of volunteers to make this effort successful over the long-term.  A huge thanks to our neighbors that have been out and about over the last few week, like Chris Kelliher, Zach Babb, and Andrew Arbaugh, and to Kalen Saxton for organizing the group up until now.

Link to survey.

Sincerely,

signed: Geran Tarr
