National Tradesman DayNational Tradesmen Day

The third Friday in September is an unofficial day to celebrate our tradesmen and women, be they auto mechanics, roofers, plumbers, electricians, or welders.

When you open your cupboards, wash your hands, turn on your lights, flush your toilet, or start your car – take time today to appreciate the men and women who made sure the cupboard is straight, the plumbing works, the lights are bright, and the car is running!

Many of us in Alaska have spouses, relatives, or friends who work in one of the trades – tell them thanks today.

If you don’t, I bet you’ll pass one of our constructions workers on site, getting coffee, or out to lunch. You’ll probably also see your office or school maintenance workers sometime today. Stop and let them know it’s National Tradesmen Day and say thanks. If you’re feeling friendly, buy their coffee or lunch as a thank you!

Davis Park Clean-Up

Even though there’s a chill in the air, I want to spend as much time outside as I can right now! If you’re also looking for an excuse to enjoy the outdoors before the frost rushes in, join me tomorrow for the Davis Park Clean-Up!

We’ll be meeting in the Lion’s Club parking lot at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 20th, and spending a couple of hours beautifying Davis Park, on top of the amazing work already completed this summer.

If you can’t make it tomorrow, mark your calendar for September 30th, October 1st, or October 2nd, because it’s already time for my fall constituent meetings:
