Don't let myths get in the
way of schools' progress

Dear Neighbors,

I attended the historic ceremony promoting Catherine Jorgensen to Brigadier General for the Alaska Army National Guard, the first woman to ever hold this position
I attended the historic ceremony promoting Catherine Jorgensen to Brigadier General for the Alaska Army National Guard, the first woman to ever hold this position

I recently published a column in the Anchorage Daily News that presents, and repudiates, several commonly held misconceptions about public education in Alaska. These public education myths are often used to attack our public school system. I am enthusiastic about having a community conversation about improving education outcomes, efficiency in delivery of education, and how to best prepare our youth to be the talented workers of the future. You can follow this link to read the full article.

I also want to take this opportunity to highlight a very well written Letter to the Editor about the same subject. Letters to the editor are a great way to contribute to the community conversation and I’d love to see more letters about important topics under consideration the legislature, so if you can, please consider taking a few minutes out of your day and submit one.
