Loussac Library, 3600 Denali St., at11 am to 2 pm.

Upcoming Opportunities
The Anchorage Park Foundation and the Municipality of Anchorage are currently looking to fill their 2016 summer Youth Employment in Parks (YEP) crew! This is an incredible 10-week program where teen crew members learn natural resource management job skills by building trails and restoring stream banks, while also increasing civic engagement, environmental awareness, and leadership skills. This is the best first job one could have!
They are looking for 20 YEP Crew Members. Applicants must be Anchorage residents, ages 16-19, and in high school or a GED program. Applications are due March 18th!

The fifth installment of the WorldMatters series will feature women working in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields: Janet Weiss, President of BP Exploration Alaska Inc; Jenna Desmarais, Materials Management Advisor of the Point Thomson Project with ExxonMobil; and Katherine Barnes, a PR consultant with a background in science.
Join them to hear about their experiences on Wednesday, March 9th at Cyrano's Theatre Company. Also, at 5:30pm there will be a social mixer with guest speakers prior to the program starting at 6:00pm. Beverages and light snacks will be available for purchase from Cyrano's Cafe. Register here.
Trail Training Classes to be held in April in Anchorage
Three days of trail classes will be held in Anchorage this April. The classes are being sponsored by Alaska Trails, the US Forest Service, and the Bureau of Land Management. Sign up now, as these classes can fill up in a hurry. Fees cover the cost of training materials, food and related expenses. You can register via Paypal at the Alaska Trails website.
