New Staff, Local Events, and an Amazing Girl Scout Troop Dear Friends and Neighbors, Session is moving along and our committee work is picking up! Next week I’ll give a report on the activities in the Resources and Health and Social Services Committee with updates on Medicaid expansion and the AKLNG Project. This week, I want to tell you all about my staffers for the session and their work assignments so you know who to talk to with questions. At the end is information about some local events that might be of interest to you. Introducing Team Tarr: 2015 Legislative Staffers I’m thrilled to have two amazing people working with me (for YOU) this legislative session. In my office I have one full time year round staff person and one that works only during the legislative session to help with committee activities and research. We all value our public service and are committed to doing everything we can for our area, from information requests you might have on state agencies or legislation to helping with constituent issues to volunteering at community events. Please get in touch with any of us if we can ever be of assistance to you. ![]() Ray Friedlander: Ray joins my office as my session only staffer. She has background in natural resource studies from UC Berkeley, has done Tongass-based community advocacy and writing, and most recently worked her first summer on a fishing boat. She will staff me for the Resources Committee and Health and Social Services Committee. When she’s not working, she hosts community supported radio shows. Scott Fritz: Scott is my year round staffer helping with constituent services, district activities, capital projects, and more. Scott moved to Alaska on May 10, 2010. Since that date, he’s been trying to figure out what took him so long to do so. He has worked in the outdoor/environmental education field as a guide on extended sea kayaking expeditions in Prince William Sound and teaching fisheries biology throughout Western Alaska. When he’s not working he loves to spend time outdoors and he’s taken full advantage of everything Alaska has to offer by spending the past 5 years kayaking, packrafting, hiking, and skiing all over southcentral Alaska. This is Scott’s first session AND his first time in Juneau, so he is pretty excited to be here. Pictured: Scott and Ray here in our Juneau office. Please come by if you are in town!
