| Reminder: Coffee with Ivy tomorrow | |||
|
Dear Neighbors, Fall is in full swing and I wanted to give you a couple of updates and share with you a couple of invitations.
Join me for Tomorrow, October 8th, for Second Saturday “Coffee with Ivy” at Waffle Rush at the corner of DeBarr and Edwards St. The exact address is 6307 Debarr Road. Please come join me to discuss the major issues affecting our state and local community.
Late last month, I joined other eastside policy makers in holding a public safety town hall at Begich Middle School. It was a productive meeting with many community members in attendance. There were resources available to assist folks in taking proactive measures to make our community safer. We had representatives of community councils, community patrols, Neighborhood Watch programs, Green Dot training information (it’s a bystander intervention tool), and presentations from the Anchorage Police Department and Mayor Ethan Berkowitz.
I was pleased to join Sen. Lisa Murkowski, Governor Bill Walker, Anchorage Police Chief Chris Tolley, and many other community leaders in kicking off Domestic Violence Action Month. The ceremony was a call to both be aware of the toll that domestic violence has on our community, but also to take action to help alleviate the problem facing our society. For more information on the month’s activities and how you can get involved, please visit the AWAIC shelter’s website.
On October 15th from 12:30pm to 3:30pm Fire Station 3 will hold its grand opening. The Anchorage Assembly has honored the late Rep. Max Gruenberg by naming the station after him. It is located at 430 Bragaw St. with limited overflow parking at the Alaska Native Cultural Charter School. Keep in touch,
