I thank Governor Walker for selecting me to fill the seat held by the late Representative Max Gruenberg.  While I may never be able to fill Max’s big legislative shoes, I intend to do my best to carry on his legacy of openness, integrity, and diligence.

Today, March 31st, is the last day to file for your 2016 Permanent Fund Dividend.  If you contribute half your dividend to a 529 college savings plan, you could win a $25,000 scholarship account.  Also, don’t forget to Pick.Click.Give for a chance to double your dividend. Go here to file today! 

Update and Survey

The legislative session is moving faster and faster as the 90-day statutory session limit approaches.  My days are filled with committee hearings, floor sessions and studying the issues facing the state.  I serve on the Education, State Affairs and Military and Veterans Affairs committees.  I have been meeting with constituents and stake-holders from across the state.  I have mailed out a survey to folks in the district.  You should receive it in the mail shortly.  You can complete the hard copy and mail it back to my office, or you can take it online right now.

Go Blue to Prevent Child Abuse

April is national Child Abuse Prevention month.  One of the ways to show your support for ending child abuse is to dress in blue on Friday, April 1st.  You can also attend a local event that is organized to raise awareness of child abuse in our communities and find ways to stop it.  Here is a list of events across the state.  I will be attending the rally on the Capitol steps at noon on Friday.

Digital Town Hall and District meeting

Sen. Wielechowski, Rep. LeDoux and I are hosting a digital town hall meeting on Thursday, April 7th from 6:30 to 7:30pm.  We will be hosting the meeting from a committee room in the State Capitol.  You can participate in a variety of ways:

1.      Head to the Anchorage LIO at 716 W. 4th Avenue and testify in person.
2.      Send an email to me at rep.ivy.spohnholz@akleg.gov.
3.      Call in and ask your question over the phone by calling 1-844-586-9085.

Finally, I am hosting my first-ever constituent meeting on Saturday, April 9th, from 3-5pm at Denny’s on Debarr.  The restaurant is located 3850 Debarr Rd.  I hope to see you there.
