Rep. Bob Miller

I was born in Washington DC (the capital), and grew up in Maryland.  I went to high school in historic Bladensburg (the battle of Bladensburg , War of 1812) and then to college in Baltimore.

I came to Alaska in 1988, just to see it for a week or two. But I fell in love with the beauty of the land and the warmth of it's people and I've called Alaska my home ever since. I've worked as a minimum wage janitor in a Denali campground; I slimed fish in Valdez; and worked in sales in Anchorage and Palmer.  It was love at first sight when I met Joni at the Palmer Fair, and we came to Fairbanks in 1990. our three boys are grown and out on their own, and we take great delight in the antics of our two grandsons.

Since coming to Fairbanks I have worked in telecommunications, written and performed at the Palace and Malemute Saloons, spent a summer narrating the trip on the river boat Discovery, been the news director at KTVF channel 11, and anchored the 6 o'clock TV news for a dozen years at Channel 11 and later at KXD channel 13. I have always held a deep belief in our democracy. I am convinced that if we can just get informed, intelligent and caring people to talk together, we can solve anything.
