Dear Neighbors,
Thanksgiving Day is tomorrow and I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. I often write about the warmth and generosity of our community and believe that we live up to our title of “The Golden Heart City”. There are dozens of worthy charitable organizations, churches and groups that help those in need. They need our support year round and especially during the holiday season.

Open House at the LIO
In anticipation of a busy legislature, the Legislative Information Office or LIO would like to invite Fairbanks to an open house. The Legislative Information Officers will show you some of the new tools that they use to get information back and forth to Juneau. Legislators and staff will also be on hand to show you plans for the upcoming session that begins on January 22. Please stop by on Monday, December 9th between 4-7pm.
Meeting With Local Groups
The Interior Delegation has begun to schedule meetings between the Delegation and local groups and organizations before we head to Juneau. We condense meetings into two to three weeks prior to Christmas in order to keep the schedule concise. It is an excellent opportunity for the public to have access to their Legislators and let us know what is important to your group. Please feel free to contact my office to schedule a meeting with the Interior Delegation.
Investing in Fairbanks – Small Business Saturday

Rep. Kawasaki spends time with family during the holidays |
Thanksgiving Day means family, friends and community to me. I would much rather watch the Parade and enjoy the day with loved ones than step into a busy store at 6am. Yet Friday is historically the largest shopping day of the year across the nation and even right here in Fairbanks. Another day of note this year is Small Business Saturday. If this town were to shift just 10% of our year-round consumer spending to local businesses, we could create more than $150 million in new economic activity right at home. I made the pledge, will you?
