Legislative Update
Upcoming Event

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I hope you are all doing well on this chilly Friday afternoon. The forecast is calling for a cold weekend, but don’t let that keep you at home! This weekend there are many great activities going on in the Anchorage area. You can see a list of more activities here, but I wanted to bring your attention to one event happening right in the heart of the district.

Tomorrow, Saturday November 14, Join Alaska Common Ground for a free, non-partisan public forum that will look at the big picture of how climate change is affecting Alaska and what action we need to take to adapt to and mitigate these impacts. Speakers will discuss the science behind climate change and the impacts on Alaska physically, socially, economically and fiscally. Afternoon panels will look at what policy and action we can take to move forward.

A keynote address will be given by Bill Ross, former Commissioner of the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation. He will discuss lessons learned from climate change action plans and strategies in the western states.

What: Alaska’s Changing Climate
When: November 14,2015 from 9am-4pm
Where: UAA Student Union

Upcoming Constituent Meeting

On January 9, 2016, Senator Gardner, Representative Drummond, and I will be holding a pre-session constituent meeting. Time and location are still being discussed but I wanted to give you an early heads-up to mark your calendar. We are hoping to have invites in mailboxes the first week of January and I will include reminders in my updates as things progress.  2016 will prove to be an absolutely vital year.  I know this could be said of any year.  But, somehow it’s different now.  When 2016 ends, the State of Alaska may or may not be on a path toward a sounder fiscal footing.  And, when 2016 ends, the State of Alaska may be pretty obviously headed toward a large gas line, or not.  And, finally, a debate about what kind of services Alaskans expect from their governments will be more fully developed.

Paris

As I am writing this I am seeing the tragedy unfold in Paris. I am at a loss for words. My prayers to the people of Paris. Vive la France!

As always, please call or email with any thoughts, ideas, or concerns.

I Answer to You!

Sincerely,

Andy Josephson[signed]
