Seminar & Road Closure

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

On Wednesday, August 5th, I will be speaking at a free teleconference seminar to help raise awareness about plastic microbeads and their impacts on the environment. As many of you will remember I sponsored House Bill 14, which would ban the use of microbeads in cosmetics in Alaska. *DISTRICT ROAD CLOSURE*

Neeser Construction, the contractor building the new UAA Engineering Parking Garage, will be needing to close UAA Drive on two weekends before classes start back up again. On the weekend of 8/9 August, they will install a storm drain across UAA Drive at the Mallard Road intersection, construct the new median, and install a couple of light pole foundations. On the weekend of 15/16 August, they will mill down the UAA Drive pavement at the intersection and repave it. UAA Drive will be closed from 8PM on Friday to 6AM on Monday for both weekends.

Neeser is obtaining the required MOA permits including notifications to emergency services (police fire & ambulance) and People Mover transit. They will also be placing a notice in the newspaper and positioning detour and electronic roadway information signage.
