Interim E-Blast
A great start to summer

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I hope that you have been enjoying the amazing weather we have been having!  It is not often that we see 70+ degree weather in May, but we may as well take advantage of it.

Community Councils

Since I returned to the district from Juneau, I have had the opportunity to participate in 4 out of the 5 Community Councils in the area (my aide John attended the 5th).  It is always great to see so many familiar faces and hear about the issues that are of importance to the various communities around the city.

Even though most of the Community Councils have adjourned for the summer it is never too late to get involved in the community.  I recently took part in the University Lake clean-up effort and I would encourage everyone to get out and help make our communities the most pristine in Anchorage. Plus it is a great way to meet people and spend time in the sun!

This past week I had the opportunity to present citations to Hannah Peterson, Kyle Wilson, Angela Frazer, and Annalisa Westerholt who are all students at East High School.  It was a nostalgic moment for me as I student taught in 1991 in the same classroom where the presentation took place. These young individuals helped to write citations for Anchorage Project Access and for the late Captain Jack Johnson from Seward.  They did an amazing job and they deserved to be recognized for their efforts.  I hope you will join me in saying “Thank you” to them!

Don’t Forget!

The UMed/Midtown picnic is on the 29th from 5-6:30pm at David Green Memorial park.  Come out and have a hotdog with Senator Berta Gardner, Representative Harriet Drummond and myself!

As always, please call or email with any thoughts, ideas, or concerns.

I Answer to You!

Sincerely,

Andy Josephson[signed]
