Upcoming Constituent Meeting
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
The third special session of the 29th Alaska Legislature has come to a close. The legislature voted to “buyout” Trans-Canada’s interests in the AKLNG project. Alaska now has a full 25% interest in what will be one of the largest megaprojects in the world.
Although it seems as though we are getting closer to the construction of a pipeline, this doesn’t mean that the project is a “go.” The partners are still examining the economics to see if it will be profitable. Having experience with last pipeline, I am concerned about the community impact aid package that is being put together to assist communities deal with the real world problems that will happen if and when the project gets underway.
