Friends and Neighbors,

The Legislature is on course for its typical end of session meltdowns and logjams. The House Finance Committee has just received an Education committee substitute bill that is pretty far from the original governor’s proposal. We have a lot of work to do to understand it and try to make it better.

I will be writing more on the subject once we know more about this bill, but I appreciate all of the input and comments I have received on PERS/TERS and education funding- Keep ‘em coming!

Public Comment on the FY 15 Capital Budget

The Senate Finance will be hearing public testimony on the Capital Budget Saturday of this week. For those in our district please see the following times for your opportunity to testify:

In Fairbanks:

Date: Saturday, April 5th, 2014

Time: Noon- 12:30pm

Location: Fairbanks Legislative Information Office, 1292 Sadler Way, 3rd Floor of the Alaska USA Federal Credit Building, across from Home Depot.

In Communities Without an LIO “offnets”:

Testimony will be limited to 2 minutes. The Senate Finance committee will not release their version of the budget until after testimony, so it’s important to say in your testimony if the project you support or do not support is in the Governors version or is something you want to see added.
